ALL OF MAGNET’S VOLUNTEER POSITIONS ARE NOW FULL. THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST!
As North America’s largest magazine conference, MagNet requires more people power than Magazines Canada’s dedicated staff can provide. Fortunately, the conference benefits every year from a crew of motivated volunteers whose time, energy and commitment help make the conference an annual success.
Volunteering at MagNet is also a great way to experience the conference on a budget. Volunteers are granted free access to a number of sessions commensurate with the amount of time contributed to the conference, not to mention the opportunity to network with magazine professionals from across the country.
What you can do at MagNet
There are three main jobs MagNet volunteers are asked to fill:
- Registration: welcoming delegates as they arrive and handing out name badges and other items.
- Greeting: acting as ambassadors for the conference, providing general information and helping delegates find their way around the conference.
- Room repping: helping sessions run smoothly and troubleshooting when they do not. As this is a relatively demanding job, room reps are typically experienced volunteers and/or past MagNet delegates.
Each day is broken into a morning shift (8am-1pm) and afternoon shift (1-5pm), with more volunteers needed in the morning. There is no afternoon shift on Friday. Room reps are typically asked to commit to full days for the entire conference.
